Janev and Janev will communicate the low-emission zones for the citizens of Sofia

The Sofia-based communications agency Janev&Janev  will be responsible for full-scale development and execution of communication strategy for the introduction of low-emission zones in the Municipality of Sofia – the capitol of Bulgaria. The success comes after winning an international tender issued by Clean Air Fund – the global organization that funds cities in Europe and Asia for development, cooperation and implementation of practices and policies that benefit a cleaner air.

“It is with great responsibility and dedication that we undertake this task. This follows our long-lasting policy of supporting sustainability and ESG projects in Bulgaria and throughout the world. It is imperative that we are proactive now and push to demand more ambitious actions for cleaner future. Changing the behaviour of the society to one that is community-oriented and socially responsible is never an easy task and we are looking forward to face that challenge together. Our core principles has always been that the genuine PR must initiate a broad discussion and inspire change; it must provoke you constructively and make you demand a better environment for yourself and your close ones. We live at a time that demands action – both from us as professionals in our international community but from every single person that wants to leave a  better tomorrow.”, shares Todor Ianev, Chair of Worldcom and Managing Partner of Janev & Janev.

Sofia is soon to be one of the 320 respective cities in Europe that are implementing the low-emission zones. The LEZ is a zone where automobiles with high levels of pollution are not allowed to pass, as well as no heating from burning any material whatsoever is conducted. The practise skyrocketed during COVID and post-COVID realisations of municipal governments when the cities ultimately became cleaner primarily due o the lack of traffic. It is expected that more than 300 new cities will follow by 2025 and implement their own low-emission zones.

Clean Air Fund is an international foundation whose mission is clean air for all, thereby striving to accelerate decarbonization and improve people’s health. The organization supports projects that aim to reduce air pollution, monitor its condition, develop clean energy and transport policies, mobilize the public and draw attention to issues related to clean air.
