The Sofia-based communications agency Janev&Janev will be responsible for full-scale development and execution of communication strategy for the introduction of low-emission zones in the Municipality of Sofia – the capitol of Bulgaria. The success comes after winning an international tender issued by Clean Air Fund – the global organization that funds cities in Europe and Asia for development, cooperation and implementation of practices and policies that benefit a cleaner air.

Sofia is soon to be one of the 320 respective cities in Europe that are implementing the low-emission zones. The LEZ is a zone where automobiles with high levels of pollution are not allowed to pass, as well as no heating from burning any material whatsoever is conducted. The practise skyrocketed during COVID and post-COVID realisations of municipal governments when the cities ultimately became cleaner primarily due o the lack of traffic. It is expected that more than 300 new cities will follow by 2025 and implement their own low-emission zones.
